What is a Favicon?

Sometimes even the smallest details on your Real Estate site can play a huge role in design and usability. Favicon (short for Favorite icon) is exactly such a thing.

It is a small graphic that is associated with your Web site, appearing on the left of the URL address in the address bar of your browser.

It also appears on tabs in tabbed browsing…

What is it good for?
Favicon is a small visual cue that is associated with your real estate website. So small that one may think sites use it for appearance only, but in fact it is one of the key branding factors, as images are easier to recognize than names.

Also it improves user experience. Usually, while searching in the Internet, people open simultaneously many tabs. If your site doesn’t have a favicon, it is difficult to distinguish your site from others.

There is one more reason to use a favicon. Every time a browser hits your web site, it will make a request for the favicon file. If you don’t have, it will reveal 404 error. If you don’t want to see the 404 error messages for favicons, simply create a favicon for the site and upload it to the server root. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
